“The continuous interaction between private and public space, global and local issues, education and business, students and professionals, art and e-culture, concepts and testing, is what attracts me in The Patching Zone.” Carol Hol, April 29, 2013.
Carol is the treasurer at The Patching Zone’s Supervisory Board since July 2009.
Carol studied Engineering and Hydraulics at the Technical School of Dordrecht from 1968 until 1973. During his graduation he discovered his interest in spatial planning and urban collaborative environments, so he decided to study Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Delft, where he graduated in 1987. Here Carol got to know about urban renewal, a development that was in full swing at that time, which matched his interest in urban collaborative environments.
Carol is conceptionist and owner at Concire since 2002. Here, Carol develops urban concepts based upon urban collaborative environments for different markets in co-creation and co-production with stakeholders.
The Wilhelminapier Experience is one of his running projects. In this project Concire and other stakeholders are designing the experience and the functions of the Wilhelmina boardwalk in Rotterdam South. Carol is working with the local cultural institutions on a concept that will enhance the liveliness and diversity of the boardwalk and will facilitate human interactions.
